Up the Colorado River

We went up scenic Route 128 to check out more of the area and the Colorado river. The river is pretty calm in this area.

There was some current in the water as the boats found out. We watched one of them go in a circle three times before they paddles their way out of the current. It was pretty funny to watch and the boats just kept on coming.

This area is so beautiful with the vibrant red huge boulders, I just can't get enough looking at them and the river winding its way through this rocks.

And then something strange happened. We crossed over the Colorado river and within a mile the whole landscape started to change. The color of the rocks turned to a bleached out beige and within a few more miles we were again in flat land. By the time we got to I 70 to make our way back to Moab via Route 191, the mountains were only visible once again in the distance. Once back on Route 191 about 8 miles out of town the big red rocks greeted us again and everything was well.
