Dead Horse Point State Park

By Monday we decided to check out the other side of Route 191 and went up Route 313 to check out Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonland National Park. On these side you have a totally different view; instead of looking up at the huge rocks, you are on top of the ridge looking down in to the valleys.

What looks like a lake in the background is actually a plant for potash production. Potash is used as a fertilizer and these fields, which we got to see a lot closer later in the day, are used for drying out the product.

See the road down in the valley. It really looks pretty harmless you would think.
