Friday Night Lights!
Every blue blooded American knows what "Friday Night Lights" means and last Friday I got to experience it. Since we are only working weekends now, Doug took me to my first ever Friday night high school football game. I was amazed how many people showed up at SE Polk High School and that you also had to pay $6.00 entrance fee, but I guess the money goes towards school expenses.
The bleachers for the home team were pretty much full, so we decided to sit on the other side and cheer for the visiting team.
The cheerleaders were doing their thing to get the crowd into the game. One big difference to football on TV, they do not have commercial breaks and there are no replays on the big screen. By the way, there is no big screen, which means you really have to pay attention to what is going on on the field and in the beginning I was way to busy to look around and check everything out. Here is a picture of the band, which in the beginning only played a little bit when the home team scored, which actually was a lot.
Right before half time we decided to go to the other side, since the band is only turned towards the hometown crowd when they play at halftime.
It was pretty impressive to see them march all over the field and play at the same time. It sure brought back a lot of memories for Doug, since he was in band in high school. We left the game in the third quarter, since the home team was beaten the visitors so bad that there was no chance for them to come back. It was a very interesting experience and we might just to this again.
Yesterday I decided to wash the whole rig from top to bottom, since it needed it after six months of just sitting here. It was quite a job, but I got it done. Today I was going to start waxing, however, it has been raining on and off and tomorrow we are going to a professional baseball game. I guess it will have to wait until next week, since we are working Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Till next time ....
